Bunku Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

Bunku is an offline-first attendance tracker for students. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your information. In short: your attendance data stays on your device, there is no account, and the only data that ever leaves your phone is anonymous, opt-out diagnostics.

Your attendance stays on your device

Your subjects, attendance logs, timetable and settings are stored only on your phone. They are never uploaded to any server — there is no cloud sync and no online account. (Pro's Backup & Restore feature lets you move your data yourself, via a file you create and control; that file is never sent to us.)

No account, no personal data

There is no sign-up or login. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number. We never sell your data.

Advertising

The current version of Bunku does not display ads. We reserve the right to introduce ads in a future version of the app. If and when ads are added:

Anonymous analytics & crash reports

To fix crashes and understand which features are used, Bunku sends anonymous, aggregated diagnostics through Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) — for example, that a class was marked, which screens or mini-games are opened, and how the upgrade screen is used (such as which plan was viewed, or whether a purchase was started, cancelled or didn't complete). Crash reports can also carry non-personal billing state — whether Pro is active and which plan — so we can diagnose purchase problems. This never includes your subject names, notes, attendance figures, or anything that identifies you.

You can turn this off at any time from Settings → Privacy Policy → "Share anonymous analytics". Switching it off stops all collection on your device.

Purchases

Bunku Pro is available through Google Play as a subscription or a one-time purchase, depending on the plans on offer. The transaction is processed by Google Play; Google Play handles your payment and we never see or store your payment details. We use RevenueCat as our billing infrastructure to confirm and remember whether Pro has been unlocked. For this, RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly-generated app user identifier and your purchase status (including which plan is active) — never your name, email, or attendance data. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in Google Play. "Restore Purchases" uses the same mechanism to re-grant Pro on a new device.

Permissions

Children's privacy

Bunku is a general-audience app aimed at college and university students. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and it collects no personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data

On your device: your attendance data (subjects, logs, semesters, settings) lives only on your phone. "Reset all data" in Settings permanently erases it, and uninstalling the app removes it too. We hold no copy of it on any server.

With our service providers: a small amount of anonymous data is held by the services described above — anonymous usage and crash data in Google Firebase, and your anonymous app user identifier and purchase status in RevenueCat. None of it contains your name, email or attendance data. Switching off "Share anonymous analytics" in Settings stops further analytics collection. To ask us to delete the record RevenueCat holds for your app user identifier, email jdevsappstudio@gmail.com (sending feedback from Settings includes that anonymous identifier, which lets us find the record) and we will delete it. Deleting it means Bunku can no longer confirm a past Pro purchase on that identifier.

Third-party services

These are the only third parties currently involved, and their own policies apply to the limited data above:

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the in-app Privacy screen.
